Death anniversary of poet Jibanananda Das observed in Barishal

BARISHAL, Oct 22, 2025 (BSS) - The 71st death anniversary of the renowned Ruposhi Bangla poet Jibanananda Das was observed in Barishal today with a series of programs organized by various cultural organizations.

Poet enthusiasts paid homage to Jibanananda Das by placing floral wreaths at his mural at the poet's ancestral home, at the Kabi Jibanananda Das Memorial Auditorium and Library, around 9:30 am. 

The tribute was arranged through the initiative of several local organizations.

Following the tribute, the Barisal Kavita Parishad and Pragati Lekhak Sangha organized a discussion session and musical performances at the auditorium.

Agunmukha Prakashani also arranged a day-long discussion and a guided tour to commemorate the poet's legacy. 

In addition, various organizations, including Uttaran and Sanskriti Parishad, are hosting programs throughout the day to promote Jibanananda Das' thoughts and literary contributions among the public, the organizers said.
