Police arrests 2 drug traders with 5-kg of marijuana in city

DHAKA, Oct 22, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have 
arrested two alleged drug traders with five kilograms (kg) of marijuana from 
Hatirjheel area in the city.

The arrested are Md Abu Salam, 44, and Md Julhas Uddin, 40, a DMP press 
release issued by its media and public relations division said here today.

On atip-off, a team of Hatirjheel Police Station conducted a raid in West 
Rampura area around 12:30pm on Tuesday and arrested the duo along with five-
kg of marijuana.

The release said police also seized two mobile phone sets from their 
possession, it said. 

During preliminary interrogation, they gave confessional statements regarding 
their involvement in drug trading, the release said, adding: "As professional 
drug dealers, they had been collecting ganja from different parts of the 
country and selling those in the capital." 

Legal procedure is under way against the arrested persons, it added.
