Three female drug traffickers held with Yaba tablets in city

DHAKA, Oct 22, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of Gulshan Division 
under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested three alleged female drug 
traffickers with 6,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from Shonir Akhra area in the 
capital.

The arrested are Rokeya Khatun, 55, Khadija Akter Sathi, 25, and Momtaj 
Begum, 54, a press release issued by the DMP's media and public relations 
division said here today.

Based on secret information, a DB team of Gulshan Division conducted a raid 
in Shonir Akhra area at 7:10pm on Tuesday and arrested the women along with 
the contraband drugs, it said.

During the initial interrogation, the trio confessed that they had been 
collecting Yaba tablets from Cox's Bazar for a long time and selling those in 
different areas of the capital city, according to the release. 

Process of taking legal actions against the arrested persons is underway, it 
added.
