DHAKA, Oct 22, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu today underscored the need for making united efforts for the establishment of democracy in the country.

“United effort that led to the fall of autocracy must be made for the establishment of democracy in the country,” he said.

The veteran BNP leader made the remarks while taking part at a discussion at the National Labour Party’s office in Zaman Tower in the city marking the founding anniversary of the party.

Dudu said, "The autocracy in the country has fallen through the united movement of the people…The struggle does not end here. To institutionalize democracy, we must move forward with the same unity, awareness and participation. Democracy must be re-established through a collective initiative."

Criticizing Awami League, Dudu said, "Sheikh Hasina has destroyed her own party, democracy of Bangladesh and herself as well. She had destroyed everything including policy, morality and ideals.”

In this connection, Dudu alleged that “it was Skeikh Hasina, who carried out indiscriminate genocide, killing children, girls, passersby and activists from all professions. The countrymen and the world know about the genocide…There is no bank in Bangladesh where she, her family and her party activists have not looted."

Mentioning that conspiracies are ongoing to obstruct the countries new journey, he called upon all to remain united to thwart the conspiracies for the sake of flourishing the hard-earned democracy in the country.

“There are various conspiracies. We have a neighboring country that has given shelter to the murderer, the perpetrator of genocide, the looter, and they are not sitting idle either. Just as we overthrew autocracy unitedly, we must establish democracy together," he added.

Regarding the upcoming national election, the BNP leader said, "The interim government has said that they would hold the election in the first week of February. The countrymen believe that the election in Bangladesh will take place within February. And through this election, democracy will be established in Bangladesh, and a situation full of possibilities will be created."

With Chairman of the National Labour Party Lion Faruq Rahman in the chair, President of the Manush Bachao Desh Bachao Andolan K M Rokibul Islam Ripon and General Secretary Adv. Zakir Hossain, spokesperson of the party Shariful Islam, Finance Secretary Habibur Rahman, and President of Dhaka Mohanagar North Maidul Islam Asad, among others, were present on the occasion.
