CHATTOGRAM, Oct 23, 2025 (BSS) – The elected representatives of the Chattogram University Central Students' Union (CUCSU) and Hall Parliaments took their oath before formally assuming office today.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the university's Sociology Faculty auditorium around 12:30 pm. CUCSU President and University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Yahya Akhtar administered the oath to the 26 elected representatives of the central parliament. However, not all 236 representatives of the 14 hall parliaments and one hostel parliament were present to take the oath.

In the CUCSU elections, candidates from the 'Sampritir Shikharti Jote' panel, supported by Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, won 24 out of the 26 central parliament posts. One post was won by a candidate from the panel supported by Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, and one post by a candidate from the 'Binirman Shikharti Oikya' panel.

Ibrahim Hossain Rony, elected from the Chhatra Shibir panel, took the oath as Vice President; Sayeed Bin Habib as General Secretary; and Ayyubur Rahman Toufiq as Assistant General Secretary.

The Shibir panel candidates also secured 17 out of 18 editorial posts. Chattogram University has 10 halls and one hostel for students, with five halls designated for female students. Each of the 14 halls has 16 representatives in the parliament, and the hostel has 12 representatives, totaling 236 elected representatives.

CUCSU Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Ariful Haque Siddiqui said the oath-taking ceremony marked the completion of the Election Commission's duties in a congenial atmosphere at the Faculty of Sociology auditorium.
