Three crime suspects held with firearms, ammunition in city

DHAKA, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of police on Monday arrested three alleged terrorists and drug dealers along with three foreign pistols, ammunition and drugs during a special operation in the capital.

The detainees are identified as Md. Jahangir Alam Titu (36), Md. Abdur Razzak Shanu (38) and Md. Mamun (37).

According to the DB Ramna Division, acting on secret information, a smart team from the Illegal Weapons Recovery and Drug Control Team conducted a raid on Monday at a tin-shed house located south of Bhangari Bari, on the west side of the New Shyampur railway line under Kadamtali Police Station.

During the operation, officers recovered three foreign pistols, three magazines, sixty rounds of bullets, 800 pieces of yaba, and eight and a half kilograms of ganja from the suspects' possession.

Deputy Commissioner of DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Telebur Rahman confirmed their arrest and seizure.

Police sources stated that the arrested individuals are known as hardened criminals in the area. 

During initial interrogation, they reportedly admitted to keeping firearms for controlling drug distribution spots and carrying out terrorist activities.

Multiple cases under the Arms Act and Narcotics Control Act are already pending against them at various police stations.

DB officials confirmed that two separate cases have been registered with Kadamtali Police Station in connection with the incident.
