SWACHIP leader Dr Titu sent to jail in murder attempt case

DHAKA, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today sent to jail Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) Associate Professor Dr Ariful Islam Joarder Titu, also the member secretary of Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad (SWACHIP), in a case lodged over an attempt to murder that took place during July  Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masum Miah passed the order as police produced Dr Titu before the court and pleaded to keep him behind bars till the end of probe in the case.

Dr Ariful Islam Joarder Titu was detained from BMU this morning.

According to the case documents, leaders and activists of SWACHIP, a platform of Awami League supporter doctors, BMU unit chanted slogans and attacked protesting student and mass people in front of the hospital on August 4, 2024.

They attackers hurled brickbats and other heavy items at the protesters, injuring many of them, police said. 

The case was filed on January 14, 2025, in this connection.
