ACC files cases against ex-chairman of IDRA, his wife

DHAKA, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS) – The ACC today filed two separate cases against the former chairman of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA), Dr M Mosharaf Hossain, and his wife, Jannatul Mawa, for acquiring wealth beyond their known sources of income.

Director General of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Md Akhter Hossain, disclosed the information to journalists during a regular media briefing here.

The ACC official said that the former chairman of IDRA, Dr Mosharaf, on July 25, 2022, submitted his wealth statement worth about Taka 4,52,97,677 to the government, where he suppressed his family expenses worth about Taka 1,18,03,800.

During its verification, the ACC found his total wealth to be about Taka 5,71,01,477, but his actual declared wealth was about Taka 4,34,48,474, the official said, adding that the commission found his extra wealth worth about Taka 1,36,53,003, which was beyond his known sources of income.

Besides, the ACC found the wealth of his wife, Jannatul Mawa, to be about Taka 13,60,88,007, excluding her family expenses worth about Taka 27,85,922. The commission also found her legal income to be about Taka 49,75,556, which means Taka 13,38,98,373 was beyond her known sources of income.
