Rare Olive Ridley sea turtle rescued in Bhola

BHOLA, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS) - The Coastal Forest Division of Bhola today recovered a 50 kg rare species turtle here.

“The Forest Department last night found the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle weighing about 50 kg in a bag at Paranganj Bazar area under Bhola Sadar Upazila,” Sufal Roy, Range Officer of Bhola Sadar Forest Department, told BSS this afternoon. 

Locals spotted the turtle at Paranganj Bazar area of Purba Ilisha Union of Bhola Sadar and later informed the Forest Department.

Forest Department staff went to the spot and recovered the turtle.

"Currently, the turtle is in the custody of the forest office. The turtle has been given primary treatment and kept under observation,” the forest officer said .

The turtle will be released tomorrow into the sea water near Dhalchar area under Char Fashion Upazila, he added.
