French Ambassador meets Jamaat Ameer

DHAKA, Nov 19, 2025 (BSS) — The newly appointed Ambassador of France to Bangladesh, Jean-Marc Sere-Charlet, paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at his Bashundhara office this afternoon.

The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere. The Ambassador was accompanied by French Embassy Political Counsellor Christian Beck, said a press release.

Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, Central Executive Council Member Mobarak Hossain, and the Ameer’s Adviser for Foreign Affairs Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan were also present at the meeting.

During the discussion, both sides exchanged views on Bangladesh’s current political situation, the upcoming national election, the strengthening of democratic and constitutional institutions, the human rights situation, and bilateral relations between Bangladesh and France.

Issues related to trade and economic cooperation also came up for discussion.

The Jamaat Ameer appreciated the longstanding diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and France urging France to continue its cooperation in promoting Bangladesh’s overall development.

Both sides expressed optimism that the existing friendly relations between the two countries would continue to deepen in the future.
