Legal Aid recovers TK 302 crore in compensation in favour of insolvent litigants

DHAKA, Nov 19, 2025 (BSS) – Over TK  302 crore has been recovered in compensation in favour of insolvent litigants through the National Legal Aid Services Organization.

The report mentioned detailed data on legal assistance provided through Legal Aid from 2009 to October 2025.

According to the report, a total of TK 302 crore 7 lakh 1 thousand 659 has been recovered in pre-case and post-case compensation in favour of insolvent litigants. 

Of this, TK 295 crore 83 lakh 19 thousand 743 were  recovered through Legal Aid offices in 64 districts of the country, and TK  6 crore 95 lakh 81 thousand 916 were  recovered through the Dhaka and Chattogram labour legal aid cells.

From 2009 to October 2025, a total of 13 lakh 30 thousand 161 people have received government-funded legal assistance under the National Legal Aid Services Organization.

Legal services are being provided through 64 district Legal Aid offices, the Supreme Court Legal Aid office, the labour legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram, and the national legal aid helpline call centre (toll-free 16699).

Under the Legal Aid Services Act, government-funded legal assistance is provided to insolvent and disadvantaged litigants across the country. The activities of the National Legal Aid Services Organization are conducted under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.
