129 accounts of Saltha election officer Imran, associates frozen

DHAKA, Nov 20, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the freezing of 129 bank and mobile financial service (MFS) accounts belonging to Saltha Upazila Election Officer Md Imranur Rahman Imran, Faridpur District Election Commission Office data entry operator Rajibul Islam, and their associates.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission.

According to the petition, an investigation officer has been appointed to probe allegations that Md Imranur Rahman Imran, Rajibul Islam, and others earned money unlawfully from a group involved in irregularities in the voter list and national identity card registration process, and subsequently transacted those funds through various bank accounts in a manner amounting to money laundering.

It further stated that a review of the information and documents collected during the inquiry found that a total of 129 bank, financial institution, and mobile financial service accounts - held by the accused individuals and entities under their names - had transactions amounting to several crores of taka.

"Based on information from different sources, it was learned that the individuals concerned were attempting to withdraw, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the funds kept in those accounts. For the sake of proper investigation, the accounts should be frozen immediately," the plea added.
