DHAKA, Nov 21, 2025 (BSS)- Minor plaster fell from a ceiling joint on the departure driveway of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) after this morning’s earthquake in Dhaka, prompting brief movement restrictions as a precaution, officials said.

Executive Director of HSIA Group Captain SM Ragib Samad told BSS that the incident caused no structural harm. “Alhamdulillah, the runway, apron and terminal interior sustained no damage. Flight operations remain normal,” he said.

Visible cracks appeared near the connecting area of Exit Gates 4 and 5, leading airport authorities to cordon off the affected section and manage passenger flow to ensure safety. Witnesses said some passengers panicked and rushed outside immediately after the tremor.

Airport sources added that a specialist team from BUET’s Civil Engineering Department has inspected the site to assess the nature and depth of the cracks.

Necessary repairs or long-term measures will be taken once they submit report, it added.
