DHAKA, Nov 21, 2025 (BSS) - Mobile court operations were conducted on Thursday in the capital targeting illegal gas connections and the misuse of gas.

The drives took place in the Pallabi, Eastern Housing, and Mirpur areas.

The operations led to the isolation of illegal gas connections at five different spots, along with the initiation of legal measures. The total illegal gas load disconnected across both the industrial and residential sectors amounted to 15,150 cubic feet per hour.

Legal action focused heavily on the industrial sector, where two establishments were penalized. A total fine of Taka 150,000 was imposed and immediately collected from the two industries for using illegal gas connections.

The specific factories fined included New Ekota Washing Factory, which was fined Taka 100,000 and M/S B.K. Thread and Accessories Factory, which was fined Taka 50,000.

In addition to the fines, the illegal connection belonging to the Heaven International Dye Processing Factory was completely severed.

The campaign also targeted residential areas, achieving significant results in Pallabi. Drives conducted along the roads adjacent to the Rupnagar and Balur Math slums resulted in the disconnection of more than 500 illegal residential connections.
