Fake Add'l Secy held in Jashore

JASHORE, Nov 26, 2025 (BSS) - The district administration today handed over a 
man to police after detaining him from the Jashore Circuit House while he was 
availing government facilities by identifying himself as an Additional 
Secretary of the government. 

The detainee, Abdus Salam, 67, son of late Elahi Box Gazi of Helanchi village 
under Khedapara union in Manirampur upazila here, was held this noon.

Police said Salam had posed at different times as the Deputy Commissioner of 
Rangpur and as an additional secretary of various ministries.
 
Over the past three months, he stayed at the Circuit House three times using 
false identities and enjoyed government privileges.

Earlier today, he was brought to the Circuit House from Jashore Railway 
Station with official protocol. His behaviour raised suspicion when staff 
attempted to record his details, prompting them to inform the DC office.

Chief Executive Officer of Jashore Zila Parishad S M Shaheen, Additional 
Deputy Commissioner (Education) Masum Billah, Acting Zonal Settlement Officer 
Jakir Hossain and NDC Rezwan Sardar rushed to the spot.

After interrogating Salam, the administration confirmed that Salam was an 
impostor. He was then handed over to Jashore Kotwali Police Station.

Inspector (Investigation) of Jashore Kotwali Police Station Kazi Babul 
Hossain said the Circuit House authorities detained the man and handed him to 
police.
