Army conducts 'Disaster Management Exercise' in Barishal

DHAKA, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Army's Seventh Infantry Division 
today organised a combined exercise on 'District Disaster Management' in 
Barishal.

Major General M Khair Uddin, General officer commanding (GOC) of the 7th 
Infantry Division and Area Commander of Barishal Area, was present as the 
chief guest in the exercise and subsequently distributed certificates among 
the participating field workers, volunteers and students.

Under the supervision of the Seventh Infantry Division, a three-day workshop 
(from December 2-4, 2025) was held with the participation of designated 
members and volunteers of the District Disaster Management Committee, said a 
release of the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this 
evening.

In this workshop, a total of 120 individuals from various institutions were 
trained for reducing the pre-and post-earthquake damage, conduct rescue 
operations and deal with emerging adverse situations.

The participants were trained on determining action plans, formulating 
procedures, and inter-institutional coordination in emerging situations 
through thematic discussions and workshops, the release added.

Besides, some 375 field workers, volunteers, and students from various 
institutions, schools and colleges were imparted with various team-based 
training at the field-level on conducting post-earthquake rescue campaigns 
and providing first aid from December 2-6, 2025, the ISPR added.
