ACC files corruption cases against Elias and his wife

DHAKA, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS)- The ACC today filed two separate cases against former lawmaker from Dhaka-16 constituency Elias Uddin Mollah and his wife Farida Elias on charges of acquiring huge wealth beyond their known sources of income.

Director General of the Anti Corruption Commission Md. Akhter Hossain said this during the regular media briefing of the commission at its headquarters.

According to the ACC, as a member of parliament Elias Mollah abused his power and took bribes, through which he acquired huge assets worth about Taka 14 crore that was inconsistent with his declared income.
 
In addition, the commission found evidences of abnormal transactions totaling Taka 173 crore in his 40 bank accounts and financial institutions.

Another allegation stated that with the help of Elias Uddin Mollah his wife Farida Elias acquired assets worth about Taka 2.53 crore that is also inconsistent to her known sources of income. 

Evidences were also found about abnormal transactions amounting to Taka 8.97 crore in four bank accounts operated under her name.
