DHAKA, Dec 21, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today ordered the seizure of income tax documents of former deputy general manager (DGM) of Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) Abul Khair Bhuiyan and his wife Aleya Akhter.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court vacation bench Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun passed the order following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

In its petition, the ACC said it has filed two separate cases against Abul Khair Bhuiyan and Aleya Akhter for allegedly concealing assets in their wealth statements submitted to the commission, providing false and fabricated information, and acquiring assets beyond their known sources of income and keeping those in their possession.

The ACC further said that for the sake of a fair and proper investigation into the allegations of amassing wealth inconsistent with known income, it is essential to seize all relevant income tax records, including both permanent and miscellaneous files, from the inception of their tax records up to the fiscal year 2021-22.
