DHAKA, Dec 24, 2025 (BSS) - The General Secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Redwan Ahmed officially joined the BNP after resigning from his party.

He joined the BNP this afternoon at the Chairperson's office in Gulshan, in the presence of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

The BNP Secretary General announced that Redwan Ahmed will contest the election as the BNP candidate for the Cumilla-7 constituency.

However, the Chairman of my party, Oli Ahmed, does not agree with this decision. The majority of the LDP's Standing Committee members and LDP leaders and activists across the country have agreed with me.”

He confirmed, “I have already sent my letter of resignation to the Chairman.”

Redwan Ahmed stated, “The majority of the LDP's Standing Committee members and LDP leaders and activists across the country will join the BNP and work for its candidates in the election.”

Later, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir welcomed Redwan Ahmed, saying, "I congratulate him; his joining is like a son returning home, and it will make the BNP even stronger."

BNP Standing Committee members Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku were present at the joining ceremony.
