
CHATTOGRAM, Jan 2, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury today emphasized the importance of embracing the philosophy, ideology, and thoughts of late national leader Begum Khaleda Zia for the country’s progress.
He stated that even though she is no longer physically present, her ideology and political philosophy will continue to guide the nation. Khasru highlighted that people from around the world, including South Asia, admire Khaleda Zia and consider her an epic and world-renowned personality.
Amir Khasru emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of every individual in future Bangladesh, regardless of their background. He encouraged people to embrace Begum Khaleda Zia's inclusive approach of living harmoniously with people of all religions and urged everyone to pray for her.
He made the remarks while addressing as the guest of honor at the 'National Anitya Sabha and Smriticharan' event, organized by the esteemed Buddhist leader Sangharaj Dr Gyanashree Mahasthavir.
Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain, Religious Affairs Adviser, was the chief guest at the function. Other speakers included Abu Sufian, former convener of Chattogram South District BNP and BNP candidate for Chattogram-9 constituency, educationist Professor Dr. Sukomal Barua, and Sumon Barua, a member of the Chattogram Hill Tracts Development Board.
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury emphasized the need for unity in building a better future for the country. He highlighted the importance of following the teachings of Dr. Gyanashree Mahathero and working together to create a nation where every Bangladeshi has equal rights.
Chowdhury expressed his belief that Dr. Mahathero's philosophy can guide the nation towards a brighter future, emphasizing the importance of unity regardless of differences in race, religion, or caste.
The Bangladesh Buddhist Association organized a programme to commemorate the late Agra Mahapandit Dr. Gyanshree Mahathero, the highest guru of Buddhists in Bangladesh. The event included the National Anitya Sabha, Smriticharan, Ashtaparishkar, and Sanghadan.
After a day of religious ceremonies, the body of Sangharaj Gyanshree Mahathero will be taken to the Binajuri Crematorium in Rouzan at 6 pm today. Gyanshree Mahathero, a revered religious leader and recipient of the Ekushey Padak for social service, passed away on November 13 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chattogram.
