DHAKA, Jan 02, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested 17 suspected criminals during a day-long special drive under Uttara West Police Station in the capital today.

The arrestees are Sheikh Monirul Islam, 62, Md Abul Kalam, 27, Md Rabiul Islam, 21, Zillur Rahman Ahad, 50, Md Jahangir Alam Zidan, 20, Al Bashar alias Bashir, 42, Ibne Sina Akash, 20, Saifur Rahman Miraj, 22, Md Mahabub, 46, Md Shakil, 23, Md Shariful Islam, 52, Md Rakib, 20, Md Momin, 23, Md Jewel, 37, Md Shakib, 29, Md Hasib Khan, 32, and Zahid Hasan, 23.

Uttara West Police, under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted the operation in different areas of the police station, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) Muhammad Talebur Rahman.

According to a DMP press release, the arrested individuals were involved in various crimes, including being accused in regular cases, warrant cases and drug-related cases.

Police produced all the arrestees before the court, the release said, adding that such drives will continue to maintain law and order in the area.

Earlier, Uttara West Police arrested 19 suspected criminals in a similar operation yesterday.
