DHAKA, Jan 02, 2026 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested an alleged drug dealer with 2,000 pieces of yaba tablets from Kaptanbazar area in the city.
 
The arrested was identified as Sanchay Dey, 38, according to a press release issued by the media and public relations division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

The DMP release today said that a DB team of Gulshan division conducted a raid in the Kaptanbazar area at about 3:45 pm yesterday under Jatrabari Police Station and arrested him with 2,000 pieces of yaba tablets.

"The DB-Gulshan division carried out the operation based on confidential information," it said, adding that the team also seized a mobile phone from his possession.

Sanchay Dey is a member of an organised drug trafficking gang collecting yaba tablets from different areas of the country for a long and selling those in different areas across the city, the release continued.

Legal action is being taken against the arrested person, it added.
