Drug dealer held with 3000 yaba tablets in city

DHAKA, Jan 08, 2026 (BSS) - Detective Police (DB) of police today arrested a drug dealer with 3,000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from Motijheel area in the capital.  

The arrestee was identified as Abu Taher (29), according to a press release issued by the media and public relations division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) here in this regard.

According to the press release, a DB team of Motijheel division under the DMP conducted a raid in front of Dewanbagh Sharif gate in Arambagh area under Motijheel Police Station at about 4:50 am early today and arrested Abu Taher with 3,000 pieces of yaba tablets.

The release said the DB-Motijheel division carried out the operation based on secret information. 

It said Taher has been collecting yaba tablets from various parts of the country for a long time and selling those in different areas of the capital.

A case was filed with Motijheel Police Station under Narcotics Control Act against him.
