Pickup van driver electrocuted in Kadamtali

DHAKA, Jan 12, 2026 (BSS) - A young pickup van driver died after being electrocuted at an under-construction building in the Kadamtali area of the capital this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Fahim Hossain (25). The incident occurred around 2:30 pm at a construction site in the Tushar Dhara area near Saddam Market.

According to family members, Fahim was electrocuted while attempting to switch off a generator after completing welding work on the ground floor of the building. He collapsed at the spot and was rescued in an unconscious condition.

He was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the on-duty doctor declared him dead at around 4:30 pm.

Fahim's elder brother, Mohammad Mahim Hossain, said that he hailed from Sreepur village under Bhandaria police station in Pirojpur district. Their father is Abdul Hamid Hawlader. Fahim had been living in a rented house in the Zero Point area adjacent to Saddam Market.

Inspector Mohammad Farooq, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said the body has been kept at DMCH morgue for autopsy. He added that the incident has been reported to the concerned police station and further legal proceedings are underway.
