Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2: 53 arrested in Dhaka within 24hrs

DHAKA, Jan 13, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested 53 people in the last 24 hours under Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2, conducting coordinated drives in crime-prone areas under Jatrabari, Banani, Kalabagan, Rupnagar and Hatirjheel police stations.

Deputy Police Commissioner, Media and Public Relations Division, DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests.

Jatrabari Police Station arrested 19 people on Monday and recovered 100 kg of ganja during the operation. 

Banani Police Station arrested 14 people the same day, seizing 16 kg of ganja.

Kalabagan Police Station arrested one person involved in regular and previous cases, while Rupnagar Police Station arrested 14 people on Tuesday during a day-long drive. 

Hatirjheel Police Station also arrested five people in similar operations.

All the arrested individuals were involved in various crimes, including drug-related offenses and pending cases. They have been produced before the learned court.

The operations were conducted as part of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP's) ongoing efforts to curb crime and ensure public safety in the capital.
