ACC sues Hanif's children for not filing wealth statements

DHAKA, Jan 15, 2026 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed three separate cases against three children of former member of parliament (MP) Mahbub ul Alam Hanif for failing to submit their wealth statements within the stipulated time.

ACC Director General Md Akhter Hossain disclosed the information at a media briefing at its head office here today.

He said that the commission issued notices against Fahim Afsar Alam, Farhan Sadiq Alam and Tanisha Alam, children of former MP and joint general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Mahbub ul Alam Hanif on November 27, 2025 asking them to submit their wealth statements. 

However, they did not submit the statements of their assets and liabilities within the stipulated time and did not apply for time extension as well, the director general said.

Later, the anti-graft agency filed separate cases against them under Section 26(2) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 for failing to submit statements within the stipulated time, he said.
