
DHAKA, Jan 19, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today ordered to appoint a receiver to manage immovable properties of former air chief marshal (retd) Shaikh Abdul Hannan, his wife Tahmida Begum.
The properties placed under receivership include two flats in the Badda area of Dhaka registered in the name of Sheikh Abdul Hannan; a structure built on 7.84 decimals of land in Rupganj, Narayanganj; and a structure built on 320 square feet of land in Pallabi, Dhaka. Another flat in Pallabi, Dhaka, is registered in the name of Tahmida Begum.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the application, case has been filed against Sheikh Abdul Hannan and his wife Tahmida Begum on allegations of abuse of power, causing loss to the state exchequer, accepting bribes, trading in appointments, and embezzling funds through various irregularities and corrupt practices, including laundering money abroad, as well as acquiring assets disproportionate to known sources of income in their own names and in the names of other family members with vested interests.
During the investigation, it was found that two accused acquired such disproportionate assets through abuse of power, corruption, and other illegal means. Information obtained from various sources during the probe indicated that they and their family members were attempting to transfer, relocate, or dispose of the immovable properties.
The application further stated that appointing a receiver is essential to ensure proper control, management, supervision, and maintenance of the land, structures, flats, and other attached assets specified in the order.
