DHAKA, Jan 23, 2026 (BSS) - A court here placed Kamrul Hasan Ripon, president of Awami Swechchhasebak League Dhaka south city unit, on a two-day remand in a case lodged over the killing of one Dwin Islam Bepari in the city's Jatrabari area during the July Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jamsed Alam passed the order last evening as the police produced him before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand in the case.

A group of people apprehended Ripon from the capital's Basundhara Residential Area on January 19 and handed him over to Bhatara Police Station.

Dwin Islam Bepari was shot and killed in front of Jatrabari Police Station on August 5, 2024. The case was filed on February 20, 2025.
