DHAKA, Jan 25, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on Anis Ahmed over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The application states that an investigation is currently underway into allegations against former Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed over abuse of power, various irregularities and corruption, including the acquisition of assets beyond known sources of income in his own name and in the names of his family members.
He is also accused of laundering money abroad through different banks and hundi channels, and of conducting business operations and purchasing properties in Malaysia, Singapore, and Dubai.
According to reliable sources, one of his associates-his brother Anis Ahmed, who is also implicated in the allegations-is attempting to flee the country.
In the interest of a fair and proper investigation, it is therefore necessary to impose a ban on the accused person's foreign travel, the plea added.
