DHAKA, Jan 25, 2026 (BSS)- BNP Standing Committee Member and BNP- nominated
candidate in Dhaka-8 constituency Mirza Abbas today said people's votes are
the only source of power.

"The people of the area loved and voted for me in 1991, 1996, and 2001.
Today, considering me and my party's activities, they will vote and elect me
again, Insha'Allah," he said.

Mirza Abbas made the remarks to the media during public outreach in the
city's Malibagh, Mominbagh and Shahjahanpur areas, seeking votes for the
symbol of the Sheaf of Paddy.

He also distributed prizes at a friendly-football match held at the Maitri
Sangha field in Shahjahanpur Railway Colony here.

In response to a question from journalists about the documentary on extortion
at Dhaka University being shown, he said, "They are using all the weapons
needed to bring down a person. False documentaries are being made with
Artificial Intelligence; social media is being flooded with bot armies. None
of these have any truth. These kinds of people lie to the nation. We have
seen them in 1971 and 1986. They are never beneficial for the nation."

Highlighting the problems of the area, Mirza Abbas said, "My area has been
destroyed over 17 years. Drugs, extortion, and terrorism have ruined this
area. Protecting the area from these three is now the biggest necessity."

"I am working and optimistic about victory in the upcoming election," he
added.
