DHAKA, Feb 6, 2026 (BSS) -Jamaat alliance candidate for the Dhaka-18
constituency, Ariful Islam, has vowed to address the ongoing gas shortage in
the Bauniya area and its surrounding regions.
"While regular gas bills have been collected from Bauniya and nearby areas
for a long time, adequate gas supply has never been ensured. This has caused
significant hardships, especially for mothers, who face daily struggles with
the gas crisis while cooking," he said, adding "If elected, I will take
effective measures to resolve the gas shortage in this region."
Ariful Islam made these comments during a street rally after Juma prayers at
Bauniya Bazar Jam-e-Mosque in Turag today.
Earlier, he conducted public outreach and distributed leaflets in Bauniya
Bazar and surrounding areas.
He said that the roads in Bauniya Bazar and nearby areas are in deplorable
condition.
"Despite previous allocations for road development, those funds were not used
effectively. As a result of mismanagement and irregularities by elected
representatives, the common people have been deprived of the benefits they
deserve," he said.
"We aim to build an equitable city and we will ensure the development of
roads in every ward of Turag," he assured.
Ariful Islam also highlighted the lack of sufficient government educational
institutions in Turag, noting, "Local students are facing various challenges
due to this shortage. To build a safe and well-planned city, I will work to
establish government educational institutions in every ward based on the
local population."
He also expressed hope to make municipal services more effective and
accessible through the City Corporation."
Earlier in the day, Ariful Islam conducted public outreach and distributed
leaflets in the Kawla and Ashkona areas of the Dhaka-18 constituency.
