
DHAKA, Feb 09, 2026 (BSS) – Eight former officials of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the National Housing Authority (NHA) have been separately sued for illegally and discriminatorily allocating luxurious duplex flats from the NHA Phase-I project in Dhanmondi.
The accused include retired judge and former commissioner of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and ACC Md Zahurul Haque; ex-senior secretary and former ACC commissioner Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan; ex-chairman of NHA Md Delwar Haider; ex-members Md Shahjahan Ali, Dr Md Mainul Haque Ansari, Bijoy Kumar Mandal, and Kazi Wasif Ahmad; and former Registrar General (Senior District Judge) Syed Aminul Islam.
Deputy Director of the anti-graft agency’s Public Relations Department, Md Akhtarul Islam, disclosed the information at a press briefing at the ACC head office today.
He said that two duplex flats, almost double the standard size, were allocated instead of ordinary duplex flats in collusion with the concerned officials of the NHA.
The ACC investigation revealed that irregularities occurred in approving the design of House No. 711 (New 63), Road No. 13 (New 6/A) in Dhanmondi, through the 222nd and 225th board meetings of the NHA.
The details show that two duplex flats measuring 4,105.05 square feet and 4,308.68 square feet were approved by merging flats D-12 and D-13, and C-12 and C-13, respectively.
The ACC further said that additional assets belonging to 10 more individuals were involved in the allegations.
It has also asked the accused to submit wealth statements under Section 26(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, to verify the actual accounts and sources of their assets.
