28 candidates lose deposit money in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Feb 14, 2026 (BSS) - The deposit money of 28 candidates who participated in the recent Parliamentary Election has been forfeited because they did not receive the required number of votes.

District election officer Mohammad Shahidul Islam said if a candidate gets less than one-eighth of the total valid votes cast, his deposit is forfeited.

Accordingly, the deposit money of 28 candidates has been forfeited, he added. 

Of the candidates, 5 candidates lost their deposit money in Gaibandha-1 and Gaibandha-2 constituencies each, 8 candidates in Gaibandha-3 constituency, 4 candidates in Gaibandha-4 constituency and 6 candidates in Gaibandha-5 constituency, he further added. 

Those, whose money had been forfeited, are Ramzan Ali, Paromananda Das, KaosarAzamHannu, Salma Akhter and Mostafa Mohsin of Gaibandha-1 constituency (Sundarganj upazila). 

Abdur Rashid Sarker, Mohammad Abdul Mazed, Shahedur Jahan, Mihir Kumar Ghosh and Ahsanul Habib Sayeed of Gaibandha -2 constituency (Sadar upazila). 

Moinur Rabbi Chowdhury, Suruz Miah, ATM Awlad Hossain, A bdullaAdil, Mosaddiqul Islam, MonjurulHaque, Khademul Islam Khudi and Azizr Rahman of Gaibandha-3 constituency ( Palashbari and Sadullapur upazila).
 
Kazi Md. Moshiur Rahman, Syed Touhidur Rahman, Atowarul Islam and AbdurRoufAkond of Gaibandha -4 constituency (Gobindaganj upazila).
 
ShameemHaiderPatwary, Azizul Islam, RahelaKhatun, SreeNirmal, Mehedi Hasan Bidyut and HM Golam Shahid Ranzu of Gaibandha-5 constituency (Fulchhari-Saghata upazila).
