NATORE, Feb 14, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 18 out of 27 candidates contesting
from four parliamentary constituencies in Natore have lost their deposits in
the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

According to election officials, only four BNP candidates, three Jamaat-e-
Islami candidates and two independent contenders managed to secure enough
votes to retain their deposits. The remaining candidates failed to obtain the
minimum required 12.5 percent of the total votes cast in their respective
constituencies, resulting in forfeiture of their deposits.

District Election Officer Md. Nazrul Islam said the deposits were forfeited
in accordance with Election Commission rules, which require a candidate to
secure at least 12.5 percent of the total valid votes cast in a constituency
to retain the deposit.

In Natore-1, a total of 2,74,409 votes were cast, with 34,301 votes required
to protect the deposit. Seven candidates failed to meet the threshold. They
are: Jatiya Party candidate Shahed Ali Jinnah, Islami Andolan candidate
Abdullahil Baki, Gono Odhikar Parishad's Mehedi Hasan, Bangladesh Biplobi
Workers Party's Ansar Ali, Ganasanghati Andolan's Sentu Ali, and independent
candidates Mohammad Yasir Arshad and Moazzem Hossain.

38,169 votes to retain their deposits. Four candidates who lost their
deposits are: Jatiya Party's Rakib Uddin Kamal, Islami Andolan Bangladesh's
Mohammad Ali Siddiqui, Ganasanghati Andolan's Tahamida Islam Tania and
independent candidate Dr. Md. Nurannabi Mridha.

In Natore-3 (Singra), 2,33, 581 votes were cast and 29,197 votes were
required to secure the deposit. The four candidates who failed to meet the
requirement are: Jatiya Nagorik Party's SM Zarjis Qadir, Jatiya Party's Ashiq
Iqbal, Islami Andolan Bangladesh's Khalilur Rahman and independent candidate
Delwar Hossain.

In Natore-4 (Baraigram-Gurudaspur), a total of 3,19,141 votes were cast.

candidates-- Jatiya Party's Yusuf Ahmed, Islami Andolan Bangladesh's Md.
Emdadullah and Amar Bangladesh Party's Md. Mokchedul Momin-- lost their
deposits in this constituency.

Election officials said the results reflect a significant concentration of
votes among a limited number of candidates across the district's four
constituencies.
