Bangla Academy to observe 'Martyrs' Day with elaborate programmes

DHAKA, Feb 19, 2026 (BSS) – Bangla Academy has chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the 'Martyrs' Day (Shaheed Dibash) and the International Mother Language Day on February 21.

According to a press release issued today, the observance will begin at 12:30am with the placing of wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital on behalf of the Academy.

A self-composed poetry recitation session will be held at 8:00am at the Academy’s Nazrul Mancha, with poet Abdul Hai Shikder in the chair.

The Amar Ekushey Lecture-2026 will be held at 11:00am at the same venue. 
Director General of the academy Professor Mohammad Azam will deliver the welcome address. Eminent economist Professor Dr Mahbub Ullah will address it.

President of the Academy Professor Abul Quasem Fazlul Huq will preside over the function.
