DHAKA, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on two former vice-chancellors (VCs) of the National University (NU), Professor Dr Md Mashiur Rahman and Prof Dr Harun-ur-Rashid.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed an order allowing the Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) plea.

The application stated that an inquiry team has been formed to investigate allegations of various irregularities and corruption by the authorities of the NU. In connection with the relevant documents, the investigation into the alleged irregularities and corruption is currently ongoing.

"During the inquiry, reliable sources indicated that the accused individuals may flee abroad by leaving the country. Therefore, in the interest of ensuring a fair and proper investigation, it is necessary to impose a travel ban on them," the ACC plea added.
