DHAKA, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS)- The newly-appointed administrators of Dhaka's two city corporations and four other city corporations paid a courtesy call on Home Minister (HM) and BNP National Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed at his office at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

The minister welcomed the administrators and congratulated them on their new responsibilities, according to a Home Ministry press release.

During the meeting, the administrators sought the minister's full cooperation in carrying out their duties and pledged to work with utmost sincerity and a strong service-oriented mindset for the development of their respective cities.

The administrators were appointed through a notification issued on February 22, 2026, by the City Corporation-1 branch of the Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.

According to the notification, the appointed administrators are: Md. Abdus Salam (Dhaka South City Corporation-DSCC), Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan (Dhaka North City Corporation-DNCC), Nazrul Islam Manju (Khulna City Corporation), Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury (Sylhet City Corporation), Md. Sakhawat Hossain Khan (Narayanganj City Corporation), Md. Shawkat Hossain Sarkar (Gazipur City Corporation).

During the meeting, discussions were held on ensuring improved civic services, strengthening administrative efficiency, and accelerating development activities in the six city corporations.

The Home Minister assured the administrators of the government's support in maintaining law and order and facilitating smooth coordination between city authorities and law enforcement agencies for the overall welfare of city residents.
