
DHAKA, Mar 1, 2026 (BSS)- Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Shafiqul Islam Khan has said they are ready to work round the clock to restore comfort and relief of the city dwellers.
Talking to the reporters after visiting Korail slum this afternoon, he said, “From our position we are continuously working so that the people can live with some degree of comfort. We are working at the field level and determined to make the results visible.”
Regarding mosquito eradication activities, the administrator said a special monitoring cell has been formed to implement the plan.
He expressed hope that through regular supervision and coordinated measures, residents would begin to see positive results within a short time.
Responding to question he said, the government is working to fulfill its electoral commitments. Initiatives have been taken to repair the roads, protect lakes and develop a livable urban environment.
Shafiqul Islam said they are working tirelessly to meet the expectations of the people who placed their trust and confidence in them through their votes.
State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam was present during the visit. He said data collection is going on in the Korail area for distribution of the family cards. Eligible individuals will receive the cards free of charge and funds will be transferred directly to their bank accounts. He also urged residents not to pay any bribe to anybody to get the card.
He said that water bodies and footpaths in the area are being inspected. Steps were taken to eradicate mosquito and make the sidewalks free from encroachment in phases. Everything is being done at the directives of the Prime Minister, he added.
Secretary to the Local Government Division Rezaul Maksud Jahedi, DNCC Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Asaduzzaman, Chief Waste Management Officer Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Chief Health Officer Imrul Kayes Chowdhury and Chief Engineer Syed Rakibul Hasan and heads of various departments were present.
