GAZIPUR, Mar 4, 2026 (BSS) – The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in a special drive has arrested one drug peddler identified as Md Emdadul Haque, 36, with 10,000 pieces of Yaba tablets in a special operation in Gazipur.

“The DNC arrested him after searching  a Dhaka to Mymensingh bound passenger bus named ‘Alam Asia’ in the Shirirchala Bagher Bazar area of ??Joydebpur on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway last evening,” said a press release today.

Besides, a mobile phone, used for trading of the contraband items, was also seized from his possession, it added.

Initial interrogation revealed that the arrestee was involved in the wholesale trade of banned narcotics Yaba tablets in the Gazipur area for a long time. 

A case has been filed against him with Joydebpur Police Station in this connection.
