HSC student killed after covered van hits Motorbike in Khilgaon

DHAKA, March 14, 2026 (BSS) - An HSC student was killed after a covered van hit his motorbike in Nagdarpar area of Khilgaon in the capital.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Shahruz Islam (19), a second-year HSC student of Imperial College. 

He was the son of Shamsul Haque, a resident of House No. 33, Road No. 10, Block-L of Banasree in Khilgaon.

According to police and local sources, the accident occurred around 9:30 pm on Friday in the Nagdarpar area.
Shahruz was returning home on his motorbike from the Demra Staff Quarters when a speeding covered van hit his motorbike, leaving him critically injured. He died on the spot.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Jahedul Islam of Khilgaon Police Station said that police recovered the body after receiving information over the phone from local people.

"We recovered the body from Ward No. 75 of Khilgaon Nagdarpar" he said. 

After completing the legal formalities, the body was sent to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he added.

The body was taken to the morgue of the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 1:30 am on Saturday.

Police said legal proceedings in this regard are underway.
