
DHAKA, March 14, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 2,229 cases against vehicles for violating traffic laws during special drives conducted across different areas of the capital over the last two days.
According to a DMP press release, the drives were carried out on Thursday and Friday in various divisions of the capital to ensure traffic discipline and road safety.
Among the cases filed, 168 cases were registered in the Traffic-Ramna Division, including 18 buses, four covered vans, 22 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 49 motorcycles.
In the Traffic-Lalbagh Division, 145 cases were filed, including six buses, 22 trucks, 1 covered van, 11 CNGs and 77 motorcycles.
In the Traffic-Motijheel Division, 225 cases were filed against vehicles including 29 buses, 2 trucks, 18 covered vans, 42 CNGs and 106 motorcycles, while 175 cases were recorded in the Traffic-Wari Division, including 13 buses, 37 trucks, 23 covered vans, 18 CNGs and 49 motorcycles.
Meanwhile, 106 cases were filed in the Traffic-Tejgaon Division, including five buses, six trucks, four covered vans, 10 CNGs and 51 motorcycles.
In the Traffic-Mirpur Division, 256 cases were filed, including 12 buses, nine trucks, 17 covered vans, 26 CNGs and 150 motorcycles.
The highest number of cases was recorded in the Traffic-Gulshan Division, where 759 cases were filed, including 89 buses, 15 trucks, 40 covered vans, 83 CNGs and 313 motorcycles.
In the Traffic-Uttara Division, 411 cases were filed, including 53 buses, 11 trucks, 20 covered vans, 63 CNGs and 116 motorcycles.
During the operation, 627 vehicles were dumped and 326 vehicles were wrecked for violating traffic regulations.
Officials said the traffic department of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police will continue such drives across the capital to ensure traffic discipline and safer roads in Dhaka city.
