DHAKA, April 2, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has adjusted the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) upward for April, setting the new rate of a 12kg cylinder at Tk 1,728, from Tk 1,341 last month.

The revised price will come into effect from 6:00 pm today, said BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed at a press conference held at the commission’s office this afternoon.

According to the new pricing structure, 12-kg LPG cylinder will cost Tk 1,633 at the producer level, Tk 1,683 at the distributor level, and Tk 1,728 at the retail level.

The BERC has also adjusted the prices of cylinders of various sizes. The new rates are Tk 792 for 5.5kg, Tk 1,801 for 12.5kg, Tk 2,161 for 15kg, Tk 2,305 for 16kg, Tk 2,593 for 18kg, and Tk 2,881 for 20kg cylinders.

Larger cylinders have also seen price revisions, with 22kg set at Tk 3,169, 25kg at Tk 3,601, 30kg at Tk 4,321, 33kg at Tk 4,753, 35kg at Tk 5,041, and 45kg cylinders priced at Tk 6,428.

In addition, the price of autogas has been increased from Tk 62.14 per litre to Tk 79.77 per litre. However, the price of government-supplied 12.5kg LPG cylinders remains unchanged at Tk 776.93.

Speaking at the event, BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed said the government is taking steps to ensure a stable LPG supply, including strengthening market monitoring through district administrations.

He noted that the country’s monthly LPG demand stands at around 1.5 lakh metric tons, with imports rising slightly in recent times—a positive sign for supply stability.

He also warned that LPG and autogas must not be sold above the government-fixed prices at any level, adding that strict legal action will be taken against violators.

Among others present at the announcement were BERC commission members Md. Abdur Razzaque, Md. Mijanur Rahman, Dr. Syeda Sultana Razia, and Brig. General Md Shahid Sarwar (retd).
