Bangladesh offers humanitarian support to Kuwait

DHAKA, April 2, 2026 (BSS)- State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam has conveyed Bangladesh’s readiness to extend humanitarian support to Kuwait as needed, reaffirming solidarity amid the evolving regional situation in the Middle East.

The assurance came during a meeting with Kuwait Ambassador to Bangladesh Ali Thunayun Abdulwahab Hamadah at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here today, said a foreign ministry press release.

During the meeting, the state minister thanked Kuwait for ensuring the safety and security of around 300,000 Bangladeshi expatriates living in the Gulf country.

The envoy appreciated Bangladesh’s early expression of solidarity and facilitation of high-level communication between the two countries.

The State Minister reiterated Bangladesh’s position in favour of peaceful resolution of conflicts through diplomacy and non-interference.

Both sides emphasised strengthening cooperation in trade and investment, particularly in energy, infrastructure, ICT and halal food sectors, with Bangladesh inviting Kuwaiti investors to explore opportunities in Special Economic Zones and Hi-Tech Parks.

The Kuwaiti envoy acknowledged Bangladesh’s support in multilateral forums, including the UN and OIC, while the State Minister appreciated Kuwait’s continued assistance to the Rohingya humanitarian response.

They also stressed the importance of high-level visits and regular bilateral engagements to further deepen cooperation.
