Leases of 3 water bodies in Netrokona cancelled

DHAKA, April 2 (BSS) – The leases of three water bodies in Kalmakanda upazila of Netrokona district have been cancelled.

The decision was taken at the 90th meeting of the committee on leasing government water bodies under development projects.

The meeting was held today at the ministry’s conference room in Dhaka, with Land Minister Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu in the chair. State Minister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin and Senior Secretary A S M Saleh Ahmed were present.

The meeting unanimously decided to cancel the lease of the Ubdakhali River and Hagla Beel, Medhabil Tunaibari Khal water body, and the Bhogai River water body in Kalmakanda upazila.

In the same meeting, the leasing process of 54 water bodies in Sunamganj district under the scheduled programme was suspended to ensure transparency, accountability and public interest, and to benefit genuine stakeholders.
