Youth killed in Jatrabari road accident

DHAKA, Apr 9, 2026 (BSS) - An unidentified youth, believed to be around 25 years old, was killed in a road accident in Jatrabari area early today.

The accident occurred around 3:00 am in front of Asma Petrol Pump while the victim was crossing the road. 

He was rescued in critical condition and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead at around 4:30 am.

Sub-Inspector Irfan of Jatrabari Police Station said police recovered the victim's body from the road in front of the petrol pump after being informed by locals.

He was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.

According to witnesses, the youth was hit by a speeding vehicle while crossing the road and the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Police have not yet been able to identify the victim but working to confirm his identity.

Efforts are underway to review CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the vehicle involved.

The body has been kept at the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, police added.
