CHATTOGRAM, April 12, 2026 (BSS) - Flight operations at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram are gradually returning to normal following a temporary ceasefire in the ongoing war in the Middle East.
According to airport sources, some flights have resumed over the last two days. If the ceasefire persists, operations at the airport are expected to return to normal soon.
Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, Public Relations Officer of Shah Amanat International Airport, said a total of 15 arrival and 11 departure flights to and from the Middle East were operated on Friday and Saturday.
However, 10 flights were canceled during the same period. These included one arrival flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, one arrival and four departure flights of US-Bangla Airlines, and flights on Air Arabia's Sharjah route and Salam Air's Muscat route.
He said the situation in the Middle East has somewhat stabilized, leading to the resumption of flights operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Salam Air, Air Arabia and US-Bangla Airlines on routes to Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Since the beginning of the war on February 28, a total of 297 international flights have been canceled at the airport due to the unrest.
