Indian illegal goods seized in Brahmanbaria, Cumilla frontiers

DHAKA, April 12, 2026 (BSS) - The paramilitary force Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a large quantity of Indian illegal goods during separate drives in border areas of Brahmanbaria and Cumilla districts.

Acting on intelligence inputs, patrol teams from various Border Outposts 
(BOPs) under the Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) conducted operations in 
different areas, including Gosaisthala, Kaziatoli, Chandidar, Kosba, Moinpur, 
Madla, and Khadla in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria, and also from Saldanadi, Shashidal, Shankukhail, and Kharera border areas under Brahmanpara, Burichang and Adarsh Sadar upazilas in Cumilla.

According to a BGB press release signed by Sultanpur Battalion Commander 
Lieutenant Colonel SM Shariful Islam, the seized goods include Indian sarees, 
baji (fireworks), cumin, basmati rice, fuska, prawn roe, Johnson's baby 
powder, soap, Red Bull energy drinks, mosquito coils, and octane.

The estimated cost of the seized items is over Taka 70,04,120.

BGB said that legal procedures are underway to hand over the seized goods to the concerned customs authorities.
