2 arrested with foreign pistol in Mirpur

DHAKA, Apr 12, 2026 (BSS) – Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police have arrested two individuals along with a foreign-made pistol, a magazine, and one round of ammunition during a raid in the capital’s Mirpur area.

The operation was conducted by the DB-Mirpur Division under DB on Saturday (April 11) at 8:40 pm in Mirpur Police Station area. 

The arrested suspects have been identified as Md. Sohel Rana (41) and Md. Hanif (40).

The information was confirmed by NM Nasiruddin, Deputy Commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division, DMP.

According to DB sources, a special team launched the drive based on confidential intelligence indicating that a group of armed criminals was positioned in the F Block area of Love Road in Mirpur-2 under Mirpur Model Police Station.

Sensing the presence of law enforcement, the suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended during the drive. 

Upon searching them, officers recovered a foreign pistol from Hanif and a magazine with one round of ammunition from Sohel Rana.

The arrested individuals have been sent to court for further legal proceedings.
