
CHUADANGA, April 30, 2026 (BSS) - Darshana-Gede immigration check post resumed operations this morning after remaining closed for three days due to assembly elections in India's Nadia district of West Bengal.
Passenger movement through the Darshana Jayanagar Immigration Check Post restarted around 6.30 am today, allowing passport holders to cross the border following the temporary suspension.
The closure had been in effect since Monday morning (April 27) and was officially lifted at 6:00 pm on Wednesday (April 29).
Despite the restrictions, special provisions were maintained during the shutdown. Indian nationals residing in Bangladesh were permitted to return home, while individuals requiring urgent medical treatment in India were also allowed to travel under emergency considerations.
According to SI Tuhin, in-charge of the Darshana Jayanagar Immigration Check Post, the suspension and subsequent reopening were carried out in accordance with official directives.
"The decision was implemented based on instructions issued through a formal notification. Normal operations have now resumed from Thursday morning," he said.
With the reopening, regular cross-border movement of passengers has been restored, bringing relief to travelers affected by the temporary halt in services , he added.
