DHAKA, May 2, 2026 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two suspected robbers in Demra while they were preparing to commit dacoity by impersonating law enforcement officials.

The arrestees-Md. Alamin (alias "Mota Alamin") and driver Md. Raihan were detained from the Mendipur area and a nearby CNG pump under the Demra Police Station following two separate drives on Friday.

A foreign pistol, one magazine, four rounds of ammunition, a microbus with fake number plates, RAB jackets, two handcuffs, a walkie-talkie, a police sticker, batons, a laser light, a Wi-Fi router, an army-style mask, and smartphones were seized from their possession.

MZM Intekhab Chowdhury, director of Rab's legal and media wing, disclosed the information at a press briefing at the Rab Media Centre in Dhaka's Karwan Bazar.

RAB said the duo belonged to an organized gang that posed as law enforcers to stop vehicles and rob passengers at gunpoint.

Alamin is accused in multiple cases, including a 2023 Tk 7.1 million robbery in Keraniganj.

RAB reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order.
